Young Women of Purpose

Young Women of Purpose. LaTanya Horace-Cheatham facilitates the group every Friday afternoon during the school year at South Lake High School. The curriculum includes: respect; self-love; healthy relationships; peer pressure; accountability/responsibility; teen dating violence; fair fighting; power & control; and Five Strategies of Virtues Project. Financial contributions to assist with the sessions and needs of the students are welcome.

Role Model Summit

PEARL Legacy and the Multicultural Alliance for Prosperity (MAP) in partnership with Flossin Media and the U.S. Department of Education presented Role Model Summits at South Lake and Cleveland High Schools. Speakers included Lt. Roberto Jourdan, Steve Lynch, Reginald Ball and Jon Goings of the Seattle Black Firefighters Association (SBFFA), Alberto Retana of the U.S. Department of Education, John Washington, CEO of Flossin Media and Fawn Aberson of Flossin Media. The purpose of Role Model Summits are to encourage, advise and guide students through challenging situations and to inspire students to live their best life and prepare for their future.

Fashion Shows

African-Centric Fashion ShowPEARL Legacy was a co-presenter of the African-Centric Holiday Fashion Show. This show was designed to provide cultural information regarding African traditions to the community in an entertaining format. It was also an opportunity for local business owners and designers to gain exposure to individuals who are interested in African culture and fashions. We coach youth in our modeling group to enhance their self-esteem and self-confidence. Youth models are also provided an opportunity to connect with professional, positive, caring and strong women and men of African descent.
